I have a bad back, would Pilates be good for me?
These days, hardly anyone walks into the studio with a "healthy body." Though we advise all clients with ailments to consult a physician, Pilates can be very good at strengthening your body to relieve aches and pains. Generally, core strengthening helps those with bad backs tremendously. Again, it is always advised to seek out a doctor's opinion in case there is a disc problem. We cannot and do not attempt to diagnose or treat injuries.

What should I expect in the first lesson?
Arrive to the studio (dressed to work out) about 10 minutes early for some paperwork and a complimentary, but optional, body assessment. The assessment includes height, weight, measurements and body fat analysis.

How long is the session?
Private and semi-private sessions are approximately 55 minutes. Group classes (including mat, tower and reformer) are 45 minutes.

What should I wear to a Pilates session?
You should dress in comfortable, work out-type clothing. For men, sweat pants or workout pants and t-shirts work well. For women, leggings or sweat pants are preferred with t-shirts or cami shirts. Shorts are not recommended as legs should be covered. Generally, the tighter the outfit, the better your instructor will be able to see your body, but comfort is key. Please refrain from wearing any clothing with zippers or metal as they can tear the equipment's upholstery. Socks are at your discretion, some clients like them, some do not. Shoes will not be worn during your session. T-shirts and camis with our logo can be found HERE.

What if I need to reschedule my session?
Pilates Corps has a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you do not cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged the full amount. However, if you call (with less than 24 hours notice) trying to reschedule your session for the same day, it can be changed at no extra fee as long as it fits into your instructor's schedule. Please note that the 24-hour cancellation policy also applies to Memberships.

Is there a dressing room?
There is a bathroom for you to change in.

What if I am pregnant? Can I still do Pilates?
Pilates is excellent during pregnancy, especially if you've been doing Pilates prior to becoming pregnant. If not, you are required to get permission from your doctor before beginning.

  1. Strengthens core, elongates muscles, increases flexibility, improves posture.
  2. Each workout is individualized to your issues and concerns. We teach the body, not just the exercise.
  3. Keeps the integrity of the original method, created by Joseph Pilates. This PROVEN method works (it's been around since the 1920's.) It does not have to be adapted for the times, as some "contemporary" methods claim.
  4. Upholds the principles of Pilates: Control, Concentration, Centering, Precision, Breath, Flow.
  5. Principles are then incorporated into your life outside of Pilates to improve your balance and coordination and make you fitter and more supple.
  6. It's not just a fad! More and more, professional golfers, tennis players, celebrities and sports-minded people are finding that they need Pilates to improve performance and feel better!
